Julian Koepcke, daughter of a biologist, was the only survivor among the 93 passengers of the LANSA Flight 508. Still trapped to her seat, she was blown off her airplane when lightning struck it. She landed some 2 miles away from the crash-site. With an injured eye, broken collar bone and cuts and bruises, she had to trek for 9 days until she found a cabin and tended to her wounds. She then had to wait for help to reach her. She became a zoologist later on.
